About The Founder

Joseph Nono Nganga was born in 1987 in Thatch House Camp situated within Deloraine farm and was raised in the Deloraine community. He is the fourth born child to Mary Wangare Nganga, a former teacher at Deloraine Nursery School. Joseph attended Leldet primary school in Deloraine Camp and eventually moved on to Rongai Lassalian secondary school for boys. He studied there for four years as a day student using an old bicycle provided by the school and was awarded for his outstanding fundraising efforts to help needy students.

Upon completion at Rongai Lassalian, Joseph stayed home for several months due to a lack of funding to further his studies. He was taken in by his cousin, Naomi Muthoni, who was working in Oserian-Lapieve as a house lady, to study compute packages sponsored by fair trade. He did very well and passed with distinction. Since Oserian couldn't employ him, as he was under 24 years old (and they required workers who were at least 24), he decided to travel to Nairobi to work. He worked at Karen as a shamba boy for several months, but fell on hard times and couldn't stay there. Eventually, Joseph decided to move back home and approached Mr. and Mrs. Voorspuy for academic support upon his arrival. He wrote them a letter requesting academic support and they accepted. Soon after, he relocated to attend Mount Kenya University to earn a Diploma in Business Information Technology, and eventually Accounting Packages, with achiever school of professionals, though he experienced hard times during his studies there as well, as was fully dependent on himself for personal effects and other schooling materials.

On completion of his Diploma, Mr. and Mrs. Voorspuy helped Joseph get a position at Carzan flower, where he worked for 3 months. After leaving he began helping Vanessa schools with various tasks including offbeat safaris, fishing expeditions, in addition to helping companies around Rongai with Gogar farming. He had the opportunity to teach computer skills to the staff at Vanessa Grant School and also started a program to show videos at the schools. The videos were mainly educative – about drugs, the environment, and HIV/aids. He visited almost all of the schools in Rongai and loved helping them. He still helps them but not as often.

Having gone through this kind of life, learning about how Vanessa trust is helping others, and having a passion for supporting the community, he came up with a program to support the Deloraine community, focusing on disadvantaged and vulnerable children in early childhood. With the help of Deloraine farm and the entire community, he started the Deloraine Community Child Development Program, a registered community-based organization, in 2013. The main idea of the program is to get support from all over and create better networking with the people, organizations, and institutions that provide support. He didn't want to see young children with a passion for education experience the kind of hardships he did. The program was therefore formed to help and promote education in Deloraine. He welcomes everyone to support the program to meet its goals. The program supports Deloraine community nursery schools, provides learning materials, and outsources support for the children in Deloraine.
