Feeding Program
Feeding children is one of the primary focuses of our program. We prepare porridge, rice, and beans for the children, but this is currently only done at one branch. We're seeking donations to extend this initiative to the other two branches, ensuring that all our children have access to a balanced diet that will improve their health and ability to learn.
Proposed Classroom
Our program comprises three branches, each with a single classroom. These classrooms are semi-permanent structures that become very hot in the summer and extremely cold in the winter. We are raising funds to construct permanent classrooms that adhere to the standards set by the Ministry of Education in Kenya. These new classrooms will feature stone walls and either painted roof sheets or ceilings.
Water Installation
None of our schools have access to clean water supplies, particularly for drinking. While government water sources pass by our schools, we must incur costs to connect them to our classrooms. Additionally, we aim to install rain gutters and storage tanks to harness rainwater for drinking purposes.
School Desks & Chairs
Our classrooms are currently equipped with desks, chairs, and a limited number of tables. According to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health and Education, it is recommended for children to use round tables and chairs in classrooms. We kindly seek donations to help purchase these items, so that our children are comfortable while learning and to promote their overall well-being. Your support will contribute to creating an environment conducive to both learning and health.
(2) Double Latrines
At each of our three branches, the latrines are in a state of disrepair. Only one branch has a semi-permanent latrine pit that is shared by both staff and children. To address this issue, we are raising funds for the construction of two permanent, double latrine pits—one for the children and another for the staff at two of our locations. Your support will greatly contribute to providing hygienic and proper sanitation facilities for both our students and staff members.
Reading Books
We are currently facing a shortage of various types of reading books essential for our educational programs. Although the Kenyan government supplies some books, the quantity falls short of meeting the needs of all our children and staff. We are reaching out for donations to support the purchase of additional books, including drawing books, storybooks, and painting books. Your contributions will significantly enhance the quality of education we can offer, providing valuable resources for our students and contributing to a more enriching learning experience.
Playground Equipment
Our children currently play on old car tires generously donated by Rongai Workshop and Transport Company. We kindly request donations to purchase additional playground equipment, such as a merry-go-round and swing set. Introducing these new elements will not only attract more children to attend our schools but will also enhance the fun and enjoyment they experience during their time here. Your support will play a pivotal role in creating a more engaging and enjoyable environment for the children in our care.
Cooking Equipment
We currently operate with a single small, semi-permanent kitchen that relies on firewood to prepare meals for the children. To expand our culinary offerings and enhance the efficiency of our food preparation, we are seeking donations to construct a modern kitchen. Your support will enable us to provide a more diverse and nutritious range of meals for the children under our care.
Field Trips
We are accepting donations to facilitate field trips for our children around Deloraine. Thus far, we have explored destinations such as Deloraine Farm, Deloraine Houses Offbeat Safaris, and Lake Nakuru National Park. These excursions play a crucial role in fostering their learning by exposing them to new experiences and encouraging creative thinking. Additionally, these outings serve as a powerful source of motivation and joy for the children. Your contributions will go a long way in providing them with memorable and educational adventures.
